A small Gallurese enclave in Anglona, in north-western Sardinia, five kilometres from the sea and 50 from Sassari, Santa Maria Coghinas lies on a bank of the Coghinas river. Behind the hills that border a fertile valley where vineyards and artichokes are intensively cultivated, just a few minutes from the Gulf of Asinara.A thick blanket of Mediterranean scrub and cork trees covers the landscape around the Coghinas. Herons, ospreys, partridges and water turtles live here. A few steps away from the village, where the river creates a bend, at the foot of a granite hill, emerge the Casteldoria thermal baths, famous for their therapeutic qualities since Roman times and today a renowned spa centre. Today, you can see the well-preserved Doria tower, some parts of the walls, the remains of a chapel and a water supply cistern dating back to Roman times. The ruins of the ancient village, perhaps built at the same time as the fortress, also remain standing.The village is built around the main road and consists mainly of small one- and two-storey buildings in cheerful pastel colours that have been built and renovated over the years. In one of these buildings, built in 2008, is the flat we are proposing.It is located on the first floor and is accessible by an exclusive external staircase, which leads to the entrance balcony from which you can enjoy a view that sweeps from the houses of the town to the pleasant hills that border the village.The front door introduces us directly to the living area, a large irregularly shaped room of over 30 square meters, already equipped with a kitchen block but can be furnished and used as desired according to family needs.
