Please note this listing is for long term out of season let's only. Our home is situated in a friendly and pretty village near the sea on the unspoilt Silver Coast. The house itself can be found within a private walled garden with its own swimming pool. The house is made up of 2 completely independent 3 bedroomed apartments, one at ground level and the other at first floor level. This advert is for one of these apartments. Each apartment is fully furnished, downstairs has an open plan lounge/kitchen, 3 bedrooms one of which is en suite. Two of the bedrooms have direct access onto the patio and pool area. Upstairs has a separate lounge and kitchen wth views from the living room of Obidos lagoon in the distance and over the pretty village of Foz. It also has 3 bedrooms, one of which is en suite. Two of the bedrooms lead onto a first floor terrace which looks out over the garden. The house has WiFi and TV channels. There are electric heaters for when the weather gets colder. The living rooms also have open fires for use in the colder months.

We have tried to create a homely feel in both apartments, they feel very much like a home from home rather than holiday lets. Outside there is a covered terrace area to be able to eat outside and a choice of 2 BBQ areas. The pool is large and includes a small area for toddlers to play.

The lovely village of Foz do Arelho is on a stunning coastline and the nearby beach features dramatic cliffs and vast stretches of sand so that it never feels crowded. The Atlantic coastline can be wild, but the fact that much of the beach here is alongside the Obidos lagoon means that there is safe bathing.

The village itself has everything you could want at hand. You can easily walk to a variety of shops, restaurants, bars e.t.c. within 5 minutes. The beach is a 15 minute stroll, with many more bars, restaurants, cafes e.t.c. to choose from.

The village has a bakers, butchers, at least 4 small grocery shops, a chemists and a bank, so you can get the majority of your everyday needs locally.

For bigger supermarkets, shops, banking e.t.c. the nearby town of Caldas da Rainha is a 10 minute drive away. It has a regular outdoor market for fresh produce.

There is an award winning golf course within about 20-30 minutes drive, and lovely places to visit including Obidos, Fatima, Nazare e.t.c. Living in this area is very reasonable, everyone comments on how inexpensive it is to eat out! Our friends marvelled at the fact that they had 2 coffees, 2 sandwiches and a cake for under 5 euros in the local patisserie. The local people are very welcoming, and many speak English, although they do appreciate a few words in Portuguese! There are other expats living in the area, but it is still very much a typical and traditional Portuguese village.

We are looking for a long let over the winter months, we then use it again for summer holidays for all of our family and friends.

If you are looking to get away from it all over the winter to a friendly, reasonably priced location, get in touch.

I have a number of very positive reviews from people who have stayed at the house previously which I can share with you from another website.

Please see an extract of a review from someone who stayed at the house this summer and which features on that website.

Fantastic villa in a traditional Portugese village

? ? ? ? ?

Wow! The villa is amazing, so much better than the pictures show. We stayed for a week at the end of July with our friends and had a fantastic holiday. There were 4 adults and 5 children ranging in ages from 9-13 years. This was our first villa holiday so we weren't sure what to expect. Kathryn so was helpful in everything that we asked and she even arranged for the villa to be ready earlier in the day as we had early morning flights.

The villa is set in a quiet residential street with the local bakery at the end of the road. In the village theres at least 4 supermarkets which look tiny from the outside but are larger than you imagine and they stocked everything that we needed. We also bought our meat from the local butcher. All the locals were very friendly and we entertained them all week with our poor portugese. They did all speak english, however it was great fun trying to speak portugese and they would try and teach us new words everyday.

We chose not to have a car for our holiday and we had no problems getting everything we needed and the 15 minute stroll to the beach was enjoyable. If you wanted to explore the surrounding area a car would be preferable although there are plenty of buses.
